Lighting on black in tighet spaces, and Lighting a pool at night?
Q. How to take picture of model in pool at night?
Pool is light from inside of water.
I would like to use strobes to be able to shoot at 200/f10/ISO 100. But still
show the light coming from water
You cannot, get a bigger budget or accept that you will need to slow the shutter,
or use a lower f stop higher iso that allows the light from the pool to be exposed
properly. If and when I have had to light a pool we placed cheap morris
underwater slaves in the lighting sockets of the pool and they fired from the
mains lighting the subject. We shot at 100 iso likely f 8-11 and 1/250
The Morris Underwater slaves are these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/90063-REG/Morris_12270_Underwater_Slave_Flash.html
Q.How to lit model on black paper, to have legs properly lit, but keep
paper black.
Flag the light on the bottom, so that it falls off quickly using a black flag
or a fanned blackcard. Or use a shiny black or mirror finish, the reflections
will not be seen from the camera angle and what you will be seeing is the relfection
of the dark black that is far behind the model making it a dark black.
Q. Another how to front lighta model on black background and keep background
dark and totally black. (Especially when you cannot have more then 4-5 feet
model from background)
Move the light closer in and use the law off fall off, the closer the light
the faster the fall off will be, or flag and use a grid or honeycomb on the
light and or softbox to control the spill of the light. also use a dense
black like a velvet or duvetine fabric which is dark and light absorbing moreso
than paper.
